I am pleased to advise that a new organisation has been formed to create greater awareness, understanding and support for Victoria’s emergency service volunteers. I have had discussions on forming this organisation for some time because of the appalling treatment of emergency service volunteers despite the existence of a legally binding volunteer charter for CFA volunteers, as well as signed charters across other volunteer services, ironically one signed by the Andrews government.
